Erica and the girls are spending this week in Montana — a place that is significant to our family. And Dimitry is on a quick trip to Miami to pay a shiva call. (Vaska is holding down the fort at home 🐈)
Many of you know that the two of us have long used the phrase "Harlem adjacent" to describe, well, anywhere that isn't Harlem. We use it to talk about folks who go out of their way to visit our community from other neighborhoods. We lovingly use it to describe community members who have moved to another state, or even another country.
Well this week, we are Harlem adjacent.
We’re letting the distance deepen our love for the community we get to come home to. That's the thing about travel: it never fails to shift our perspective. We hope you've found some ways—however small or large—to shift your perspective through some adventures this summer, too.
The two of us will be back in time for Shabbat — more on your Shabbat plans below — but in the meantime, we’re sending our love across the mountains and from the ocean shores.
